Common causes and how to avoid tarnishing.

• Moisture and Humidity.

  Increased moisture on our skin, showering, etc all lead to tarnishing.

  • Solution: avoid wearing jewellery while sleeping, showering/bathing.

• Cosmetics and Sunscreen

  Sunscreen, lotions, and cosmetics can cause Sterling Silver to tarnish.

  • Solution: apply sunscreen, lotions and cosmetics, allow to dry then add your jewellery. Wipe your item with a dry soft cloth after wearing.

• Swimming

  Chlorine can result in tarnishing and can cause pitting. This is a natural reaction.

  • Solution: remove all jewellery prior to swimming especially in chlorinated water.

• Perfumes and sprays

  Contain chemicals, which react with your Sterling Silver causing it to tarnish.

  • Solution: spray perfume onto your skin and allow it to dry before wearing your jewellery.
