During the process of making silver jewellery you will inevitably get leftover pieces, these can be melted together & it’s such a great way to reduce waste & recycle every scrap including the silver particles you get from filing, it is all valuable! Using all the correct equipment is essential eg soldering blocks, flux, gas torch with a fairly large flame & a solder probe which helps to move the molten silver together if any escapes to another part of the soldering block. Once the silver has melted it will join together & move around as a blob but once the heat is taken away the silver immediately hardens (it will be black in colour) but will still be extremely hot. Allow to cool, then quench in water & place into the pickle to clean the surface. The silver blob is ready to use & create a new piece of beautiful silver jewellery.
